Hand injuries represent one-fourth of all industrial related injuries.

For the rest of 2009 and into 2010 ACA is focused in assisting members reduce hand injuries.  Hand injury claims represent the #1 type of injury claim in the ACA Association Safety Program partnership with SCF Arizona.  In an effort to reduce these claims ACA is offering this training.

Hand, Wrist and Finger Safety
Your hands - together with your wrists - help you do a remarkable variety of tasks. You use your hands all day, everyday, both at home and at work. Yet in doing all of these things that they do everyday, your hands and wrists are prone to accidents and injuries. Throughout the day our hands can encounter any number of hazards, especially in the manufacturing, construction, mining, energy and petrochemical industry. Hand and wrist injuries can be accompanied by initial pain, but may also require prolonged recovery, including long hours of physical rehabilitation. Fortunately, these injuries are preventable. This course will help you learn to recognize potential hand, wrist and finger hazards, as well as know the steps to take to avoid them

Hand and Power Tool Safety for Construction
This presentation focuses on the importance of hand and power tool safety and the precautions you need to take to stay safe when working with these tools. This module covers the statistics regarding injuries from hand and power tools; examines some of the hazards associated with them, explores the precautions that can be taken to increase safety when using hand and power tools; recognizing unsafe procedures and implementing proper precautions that are instrumental in maintaining tool safety.
